I had a sports injury while playing badminton where the ACL on my left knee had been completely torn. My right knee also had a lot of pain after some time. I was having pain in both the left and right knee. I researched quite a bit and found out that stem cell treatment would help. In US this treatment is picking up, but is quite expensive. I've found out that in India, Dr. Venkatachalam was performing the stem cell treatments. 1) I contacted Dr. Venkatachalam over the email and we scheduled a date for the treatment 1 month in advance. This process was a breeze. 2) Once I met the doctor, he instructed me to get a new X-Ray and 3T MRI and as expected, the doctor found the fully torn ACL on the left knee with cartilage damage and right knee with cartilage damage and some miniscus tear. 3) The doctor recommended that for ACL tear, a key hole arthroscopic knee surgery is needed and a stem cell treatment for both left and right knee. We both agreed on first getting stem cell treatment on both left and right knee to get the pain out and then have a follow-on surgery to treat the ACL tear. 4) The stemcell treatment was scheduled during the same week. The stemcells used were adipose (fat) stemcells. The whole treatment took around 45mins - 1 hour with 30 - 45 mins prep time. A Platelet Rich Stroma was created using Stromal Vascular Fraction (SVF). SVF is a combination of adipose (fat based) stemcells and the Platelet Rich Plasma obtained from the blood. 5) I returned back to the US in a weeks time. My recovery time took around 6 weeks. During this time, I followed the physiotherapy exercises recommended by the doctor. Results: Its been around 6 months since I had my treatment. Now I'm pain-free in both of my left and right knees. One key part of this is that the physiotherapy exercises are a must to get the most out of the stemcell treatment. Recommendation: I highly recommend Dr. A.K. Venkatachalam for any joint related issues. He is very professional and does follow up on my condition. He took his time to explain to me in detail all the problems of my knee. The doctor is very honest. The price is affordable considering that I got the Stromal Vascular Fraction (SVF) stemcell treatment that is the latest and greatest in the world today. I would definitely follow up with the doctor for my future ACL reconstruction surgery.
